A side-by-side look at OBSH and azodicarbonamide (AC) to help compounders pick the right foaming agent for microcellular soles and seals.
The Choice in a Nutshell
OBSH gives fine, uniform cells at lower temperature with no ammonia odor; AC delivers higher gas volume at higher temperature and is more economical.
OBSH-75 Masterbatch
75% active OBSH in a polymer carrier. Dosage 1–3 phr. Ideal for EPDM/NBR microcellular soles and seals where low odor and cell control matter.
AC Blowing Agent
Dosage 2–5 phr. Higher decomposition temperature and gas yield suit thicker, high-expansion parts but may need an activator and odor control.
Decision Checklist
Match decomposition temperature to cure profile, target density and odor limits. Masterbatch form eliminates dust for both agents.
TDS / Technical Data Sheet
| Products | OBSH-75 / AC Blowing Agent |
| OBSH active content | 75% min. |
| AC active content | 95–99% (granular grade) |
| Carrier (OBSH) | EPDM / SBR polymer |
| Appearance | White to off-white granules |
| Decomposition temperature | OBSH 155–165°C / AC 200–210°C |
| Gas volume (mL/g) | OBSH ~125 / AC ~220 |
| Shelf life | 12 months |
SDS Highlights
Thermal decomposition releases gases – avoid confined heating and provide ventilation. AC may release traces of formaldehyde; use activated carbon/odor scavenger. Wear gloves and eye protection.
